This series of photographs is an exploration and celebration of organic and biodynamic farming. The sustainable farming movement is growing rapidly today and I want to bring light to this crucial development in 21st century farming...a return to traditional methods of agriculture. The story begins for me however on what was once my grandfathers farm - a small industrial farm in Rolling Prarie, Indiana. I visited this farm recently to remember and learn. It is a farm that raises hogs in feedlots for eventual slaugher in what would be called not the most humane of conditions. They also grow corn, soybean, and tomatoes here. My next stops are to a biodynamic farm in North Dakota, and a biodynamic community supported farm in Ghent, NY. My hope is to eventually publish this project with text by some of my favorite environmental and food writers...
